We had such an amazing experience!! Ella and her team took care of every agenda detail and set us up with the best guides every day. We absolutely recommend big sky charter for your next trip – 10/10. We had 7 adults, and everyone max’d out on our fish catches every day. The environment at camp is so friendly and welcoming as well, it was so fun to cook our catch and hang out by the fire pit with some of the other guests. First trip up to Big Sky, and definitely not our last!

Big Sky Charter & FishCamp have an excellent operation
We have used their guide service for over a decade.
Guides…Joe, Ryan and Adam have mastered the art of Sockeye fishing in the Kenai River and Skilak Lake.
These guys know how to keep their guests happy with full boxes of salmon.
Their FishCamp caters to guests from all over the world…many are regulars…coming to “The last Frontier” every year.
Special shout out to Ella who keeps things running

2025 will be my 3rd trip in the 3 last seasons to enjoy the company and great fishing opportunities at Big Sky Charters. Great fishing, super guides and very comfortable accommodations.

“What else can I say really? The experience at Big Sky Charter and Fish Camp is second to none. Joe, Ella, and their team of guides and staff went above and beyond to make sure that our time in Alaska would be remembered forever. The Big Sky crew take you in and make you feel like part of the family that makes this place so incredible. Between fishing the majestic Kenai river for sockeye after sockeye to heading out of Homer to bring in massive halibut, we did it all with grins from ear to ear. And if you can, I highly recommend taking the opportunity for a fly-out fishing experience. Hands down the most memorable adventure any fisherman can possibly have. Thank you Big Sky for the great adventure! I will without a doubt be back for more!”

FISHING TRIP OF A LIFETIME, BIG SKY CHATERS, STERLING AK!
I have lived in Alaska and have been fishing in Alaska for over 40 years. I have been fortunate enough to fish with many different outfitters & charters from Alaska to Costa Rica. None of them compares to the level of joy and excitement I have experienced lodging and chartering at Big Sky Charters. I have invited groups of up to 8 people each time I have visited Big sky, including wives, family members, work associates. All have had an amazing time, and all want to revisit! Big Sky Charters is nestled right on the banks of the beautiful Kenai river just outside Sterling AK. Wildlife and breath-taking scenery are bountiful! Bear, Moose, Bald Eagles are routinely sited from camp and on the river. The logging is made up of many different individual cabins build to accommodate 1 to 6 adults very comfortably. Every place I have fished has been beautiful and enjoyable. What sets Big Sky apart from all the rest, is the staff & guilds. The guilds are the savviest I’ve experienced! They are armed with the best boats & equipment. They are extremely safe, experienced & professional. Their fun and knowledgeable personalities make the trips twice as enjoyable. The entire staff is accommodating, interactive, fun, and enjoyable to visit with. The fish processing is very professional and clean. They clean, filet, vacuum pack, freeze, box and will ship your bounty. This makes for a delicious treat every time I open a package of filets once home.
Regardless of the body of water, whether we are fishing on the Kenai river, on Skilak Lake, out of Sward or Homer, it is the best I’ve experienced.
I am looking forward to a return trip in 2025!!

Back from an epic Alaskan adventure at Big Sky on the Kenai! Went with my brother and buddies, and it was a fishing adventure like no other. We had a cozy cabin to crash in after long days out, which made it feel like a real home base. We started with a killer river day, hitting our limit on silver salmon. Then, we drove down to Homer for an ocean day—maxed out on halibut and kings!
The highlight reel was chartering a floatplane to Lake Clark National Park. Fly fishing for arctic grayling in the backcountry? Unreal. Topwater strikes on nearly every cast, surrounded by wild Alaskan majesty. It was the bucket list topper that I’ll never forget.
We even squeezed in a day tour of Kenai Fjords and Seward—definitely worth it for the views. The road access from Anchorage is a real perk, making it easy to explore on your own time. If you’re after an unforgettable Alaskan fishing and adventure trip, Big Sky’s the place!

This is my favorite place to stay while fishing in Alaska! Joe makes sure you have a great time, and all his guides do their very best to put you on the fish and teach you how to land your trophy salmon. I highly recommend you try them out.
